Position:

We are looking for an experienced Java architect who can fill our Director distributed systems position. This role will establish an internet scale distributed architecture using standard XML/web services technologies for our web IR (Information Retrieval) product. Extensive experience needed in developing and deploying products utilizing advanced OO design methods and state-of-the-art J2SE platforms. Ability to function in a cross functional role, to take charge our middleware and system architecture towards internet scale delivery. A successful candidate is one well versed and up-to-date on J2SE, XML/Web services architectures, SaaS methods. This position is responsible for taking our current scale architecture to a deployed system that will scale to terabytes from gigabytes.

Experienced in working with cross functional teams, when needed
Capable of grooming junior teams
Works with Product Management to align architecture with overall technology roadmap
Work with Product Delivery to align deliverables with product release
Reports to CEO
Background:

SOA Architect with solid experience in end to end large/complex product development
Significant experience in the design of at least one general OO architecture for large distributed designs
Excellent skills in J2EE, Middleware, Databases, Webservices, SOAP.
Exposure to large scale data (GB if not terabyte), High availability, highly scalable, performance requirements either in a carrier grade or internet scale environment
Prolific Java coding skills and experience in laying out core foundation/frameworks of products/projects on an on-going basis.
Communication skills suitable for handling technical direction to junior developers and management.
Experience in guiding test design development, particularly leveraging automated test data generation techniques is helpful.
Exposure to modern metadata languages is helpful â these include RDF, including microformats and other advanced efforts such as OWL and N3.
Information modeling in other areas such as CMDB, CIM is helpful
