The candidate will be responsible for:
• Delivering detailed project business and technology impact analysis
• Managing complex projects from inception to implementation
• Contributing to analysis and decision-making of strategic functional architecture objectives of specific projects
The team’s role on a project varies on a project by project basis dependent on need, from overall programme management to ownership of specific analysis or testing deliverables, to that of an advisory role. Projects that are indicative of the type or work that the candidate will be involved in include:
• New business implementations in emerging markets
• Launching new products in established cash and derivative markets
• New business initiatives requiring new legal entities and trade processing flows
• Implementation of the strategic technology platform for listed derivatives
• Elimination of the legacy trade processing systems in favour of strategic middle office trade processing system
• Cross-divisional efforts to implement regulatory directives such as BASLE II
• Roll-out of the strategic client services workstation

DEVELOPMENT PROSPECTS
The X-Div team works very closely with business and support communities across the firm in all stages of the project life-cycle. This provides a unique opportunity to learn key aspects of the firm’s business and operational processes. We have a range of skill and experience levels within the team, allowing opportunities for progression within the team which may lead to coaching, oversighting and direct management of others. Although we are part of the Technology Division, career opportunities can be available across the firm and previous team members have moved on to senior roles in Finance, Operations and the Securities Division as well as other parts of Technology itself.
Qualifications
MBA preferred.
BE/MS/MTECH/BTech/ CFA
Must have experience in the investment banking domain
Skills
Project Management/Analysis Skills:
• Understanding and experience of project management from initiation to implementation (risk/issue management, project communication, project governance)
• A proven track record in delivering projects of various sizes (functional complexity and/or resources)
• The ability to critically examine current processes in order to propose and develop functional improvements
• Ability to formulate conversion and test plans
• Strong knowledge and appreciation of technology change. Software development experiences a plus but not essential
Business Knowledge:
• Good understanding of the broker/dealer banking business: cash market and/or derivatives
• In-depth knowledge of one or more businesses preferred. Additionally, able to elicit business knowledge and have experience of documenting business processes
Interpersonal Skills:
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• The ability to communicate with senior business unit managers and direct reports; understanding business needs/concerns and helping them liaise with teams across the firm
• Highly motivated. Specifically, being interested in following up on detailed business or technical issues and understanding the functional and technical impact of any change
• The ability to impact and influence the direction of projects
• Willing to support and influence application teams from project inception to completion
• A strong teamwork ethic. Specifically, able to work with people at all levels, building rapport and consensus on issues, and helping to move projects forward
