The Accounting hub in Mumbai is a part of the IB Finance & Business Management group & supports the Global Investment bank branches located in London, New York & Asia. The hub is accountable to various global Business Controllers & CFOs.
Mumbai hub provides Accounting & Financial Control support across various asset classes such as Equities, Futures & Options, Rates, Credit Derivatives, Currencies & Commodities, Exotics & Fixed Income products.
Some of the key functions performed within the hub are:-
Key Functions
1) Ensuring basic data integrity & sanctity of the general ledgers which are the official books & records of the Bank - The Accounting & Control function is the custodian of the Bank’s GL
2) Understanding the key functions & reponsibilities of the various groups involved within every stage of the trade life cycle, viz the front, middle & back office groups. A fair understanding of the functions of Risk management sytems, settlement & accounting engines is an integral part of the job. In depth understanding & navigation through trader, settlement & accounting systems & platforms sought
3) Reconciliation of Derivative positions , Cash & MTM positions. Understanding key concepts such as MTM accounting, accrual accounting , Balance sheet monitoring & Nostro account tracking. Also involves Reconciliation of trader positions / cash balances / Cost of funding between trader books & the GL & Daily profitabilty reporting of the various businesses within the Investment Bank.It also involves understanding the key risks & potential PNL write downs associated with the same
4) Extensive networking with Trader Assistants, middle offices, onshore partners, Settlement teams & marketing support groups located in the UK, USA & Asia. Assisting CFO groups across the globe to better analyse the numbers.
5) Transitioning key processes & knowledge to Mumbai from the various regional accounting hubs located across the globe
6) Design & adherence to stringent controls across all the processes. Involves continuous process reviews, audits, robust documentation of procedures, controls & key metrics. Regular review sessions / governance calls & exposure reviews of key metrics with all the stakeholders
Qualifications

1) Sound understanding of basic Accounting & Finance concepts
2) Fluent verbal & written communication skills & articulate
3) Strong desktop skills & microsoft excel knowledge
4) Ability to work staggered / flexible hours
5) C.A. 0-1 year experience,
