Job Description
To support IT team in Installation, maintenance, and general support for AIX-based systems and related software.
Primary responsibility for AIX Administrator is to manage infrastructure. The key role will be to respond to faults and service requests as escalated by IT Service Team.
Install, maintain and support AIX-based systems and related software
Perform problem determination and resolution.
Perform operating system upgrades, capacity planning, and performance analysis as it relates to day-to-day operations.
Will analyze and modify system parameters as necessary to configure the O/S and subsystem components.
Actively troubleshoot all system errors and failures.
Work with vendors to achieve defect resolution.
Review all customer change requests for standards compliance, and operational feasibility.
Will apply changes in accordance with change management policies and procedures
Develop and implement test plans to verify installation, upgrades, or repairs, including back-out plans.
Implement O/S patches as required.
Provide disaster recovery testing and tasks for the customer as required.
Will manage shifting workloads
Position will occasionally require off-shift hours.
Position will require on-call rotation (including support of other versions of UNIX).
Assist other team members with hardware upgrades, configuration changes, and maintenance.
Participate in projects by providing technical expertise.
Escalate critical problems that will affect service delivery standards to management.
Record metrics and provide management reports as directed.
Research and recommend technologies needed to support and grow our business.
Desired Candidate Profile
Experience in using network and system monitoring Tools
Installation, maintenance, and general support of AIX-based systems and related software
O/S security (rights, privileges, accounts) and hardening (upgrades, patches) techniques
Remote access/management techniques (SSH, remote console)
Volume Management and Tape/Disk Backup and Restore technologies (Tivoli Systems Management)
Internet technologies (Apache, DNS, and/or TCP/IP)
DASD, arrays, RAID, NFS
Monitoring tools such as Snappimon etc
High availability and/or clustering solutions
Very Strong on SAN technology
